The only serial numbers that hold information are Pearl Masterworks kits which hold manufacturing date, chemical make up of the finish, ply configuration, etc... S., You don't happen to know anything about the history of the Export Pro series in general do you?

Maybe I should re-name my thread (begin a new one) specifically tailored to the Export Pro. Chuck Does anyone know exactly what the digits within the serial number mean?

SF: Have you ever had Tama try to duplicate that drum? None of them have the versatility that my snare has.

I haven't pursued it that much because my snare makes me happy as it is.

The "Slingerland Drum Company" was founded by Henry Heanon "H. Slingerland had won a correspondence school of music in a card game aboard one of the gaming boats that once cruised Lake Michigan.

He then opened a music school in Chicago, and soon turned to manufacturing instruments as well.

Slingerland ceased making electric instruments in 1940 in order to exclusively focus on producing percussion instruments.

We know they're at least 13/14 years old, maybe a year or two older. Would the next four refer to what number of drum produce in that year? They don't hold any information about manufacturing date, colour, or anything like that. Anyway, as I said before, Pearl's serial numbers on the badges have no meaning whatsoever.

They've been great for stress relief and general fun, but do not have the sound quality needed for an actual gig. S., they're around 15 years old /-, but I'm unsure of the wood used for the inner shell construction and what heads would be best to get that deep tone of modern music, not to mention eliminating the horrible over-tones and "pinginess" of the toms (especially).

Now they're/I'm needed to help start a church praise & worship band. The serial # begins with 966, does anyone know how to find out the year and/or construction from the serial?

Good Evening All, Just getting back into drumming after a l-o-n-g hiatus (20 years).

Long story short my wife gave me a set of drums for Christmas several years ago.

After introducing the Magnum series in the late 1970s, Slingerland lost its footing, and the company folded.

In the 1970s and 1980s, Slingerland changed ownership multiple times until it was acquired from Gretsch by the Gibson musical instruments company in 1994.

Any help/recommendations you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Chuck Murray, KY Pearl's serial numbers hold no information about series, manufacturing date, etc on Exports to Reference.

We have a huge collection of snare drum and drum set catalog scans for you to look at to date the year of your Slingerland drums and look at the timeline of Radio Kings and how the name was used over the companies history.

The Slingerland Drum Experts is not associated with the Slingerland Drum Company or The Gibson Company.
